Françoise holds a master’s degree in law of the Université de Liège and took the oath at the Bar in October 1991. After more than 15 years as advisor and litigator for commercial and labour law cases, she was appointed as a judge at the Brussels Commercial Court in 2007. When she moved to Asia, Françoise worked as counsel for 4 years in Singapore with the Singapore International Arbitration Chamber (SIAC) and the Singapore International Mediation Chamber (SIMC). Pursuing her career as a lawyer in South Korea, she collaborated more than 5 years with Kim & Chang, one of the most prestigious business law firms in Seoul, assisting international and Korean clients on commercial and labour law issues as well as in arbitration and mediation. She participated as a speaker in numerous international conferences on mediation. Françoise is now an independent certified mediator in civil, commercial and social matters in Belgium and Luxembourg and a partner at Alterys, a boutique law firm specialised in mediation. She mediates and co-mediates disputes in construction, sales and shareholders’ contracts, work relationships/organisation. Françoise is also a Fellow Arbitrator of the Charter Institute of Arbitration (FCIarb) and teaches alternative dispute resolution (ADR) and arbitration to young lawyers as part of their entrance bar exam (CAPA) at the Brussels Bar.
